Ben Westbeech – Interview

Here’s another one to watch for 2011, his latest single ‘Falling’ has been a great success, getting plays on ‘Annie Mac’s Mash Up’ and host of other shows. It’s also been remixed by the likes of The 2 Bears!

This free download, ‘Slowly’, is a soulful mellow track with harmonious lyrics and  a percussion filled backing track. It gonna be one for summer and it’s a lovely one to chill to.

Slowly –  Best Westbeech

We got in touch with Ben and probed about his latest musical endeavours. Catch it below:

Hi Ben, thanks for chatting, congrats on Falling! Great new single!

Cheers man, it’s really got bigger than I expected, it’s great to have such an awesome response.

For the readers that might not know you, sum yourself up in a sentence..

Singer, songwiter, dj, producer, and cellist from East London.

How did you get into the music industry?

I was signed by Gilles Peterson in 2006 when he heard a demo of my first ever song “So good today” in a saab 900 at Creamfields.

How would you describe your sound?

Soulfull, deep, heartfelt and timeless.

What made you want to go the DJ route as well as having a live performance?

Well I have been djing since I was 12 years old so I have been djing much longer than performing live.

Being a cello player what turned your attention to dance music?

Early rave tapes from a friend of my mums when I was 12 turned me on to dance music. I was fascinated.

What can we expect from your upcoming album

It’s a surprise.

Cheers for popping by Ben!

No worries man, speak soon!

Expect the forth coming album soon from Mr Westbeech!
