Jethro Fox

As we creep into the winter months, something very close to my heart is the mission of finding that stomp-inducing sound to help me cope with the reality of actually getting out of bed. This is serious business and I hereby introduce the essential playlist for any discerning ipod: ‘stuff to get you out of bed’. Now, it is a truth universally acknowledged that a nice powerful harmony can lift you from the depths of any duvet. Enter Jethro Fox, the latest fresh faced offering from Liverpool’s exploding new music scene.

His debut single ‘Blinding Light’ is out now on Tough Love Records, defined by slamming guitar and overarching harmonies, this talented guy has created a steady and powerful record.

Having taken influence from the symphonic pop of The Beach Boys, Fox’s plonking piano sound is pretty reminiscent of Grizzly Bear. Also, if you like Dog is Dead as we do here at HMCMB, you will definitely want to hear more of this guy. He did an awesome session at Maida Vale for a BBC 6Music back in the summer – ‘Before’ is highlight.

Take a little listen and maybe (just maybe) you won’t be so late for work.
